The combined company is committed to developing innovative products and cutting edge sustainable technologies to serve its customers globally.This position requires a flexible, self-motivated, team player with demonstrated experience in Oracle database administration and development with the ability to manage backups, maintain schema entities and troubleshoot performance problems. Candidate must have a thorough understanding of ETL processes, dimensional schemas and overall data warehousing concepts.The candidate will be responsible for scripting, installation, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and tuning Oracle 9i and 10g databases. Project management responsibilities include identifying the scope of assigned projects, generating solutions to technical issues, reporting analysis and results, and providing deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.The DBA should be capable of thinking independently, but operating in a team environment with a willingness to follow predefined IT policies and procedures. Must be able to work independently and be able to participate on approved projects with minimal supervision.Responsibilities:
  • Identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Ensure that the database is tuned for optimal efficiency.
  • Monitor database performance and take corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain database backup and recovery strategy.
  • Document procedures.
  • Install, upgrade, patch and support Oracle 9i and 10g databases on SUN Solaris and MS Windows platforms.
  • Provide Application Development Staff with a development environment with current data.
  • Standardize the environment and improve efficiency.
  • Perform migrations to move the databases through various development stages.
  • Perform schema management, database configuration, space management, performance tuning and optimization.
  • Aid in the Architecture/Data Modeling and the Extraction/Transformation/Load (ETL) development.
  • Provide database support in all phases of SDLC.
  • Provide mentoring and assistance to intermediate and junior DBA team members.
  • Reviews overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance and space requirements.Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years Oracle Database Administration experience with configuration, backup/recovery and space management.
  • Shell scripting experience on a UNIX platform (SUN Solaris).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and SQL tuning.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows/SUN Solaris operating systems.
  • Experience with monitoring and tuning databases to ensure system availability.
  • Ability to manage user groups and permission to the databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent thinker and problem solver.
